The Municipality of Maitum in Sarangani Province is all set for the celebration of Bangsi Festival this January 23-25.
The Maitum Photo Safari is one of the highly-anticipated events. Now on it's 14th year, the Maitum Photo Safari will once again gather photographers from different parts of the country to cover and capture the different activities of Bangsi Festival and discover beautiful places in Maitum. Guidelines & Mechanics
• The photo contest is open to everyone - amateurs, professional photographers, local photographers, including past winners, of Maitum Photo Safari Contest.
• There will be four (4) categories namely : Shoot Out Category, Street Dancing Category, Festival Category, Explore Tuanadatu.)
a. Shoot out Category – entries must be taken within January 24-25, 2019 in any part of Maitum.
b. Street Dancing Category – entries must be taken within January 24-25, 2019
c. Festival Category – entries must be taken within January 24-25, 2019
d. Explore Tuanadatu – entries must be taken in brgy Tuanadatu within December 15- January 25, 2019..
• There will be a minimum of three (3) entries and a maximum of five (2) for each category. The printing of the first two (2) entries shall be to the account of the organizer of the Photo Contest. The next three (3) entries shall be to the account of the participant/photographer.
• Nudity, vulgar, obscene, and scandalous photos are automatically disqualified.
• Registration fee of P500 shall be collected from each participant to defray the cost of the safari T-shirt and printing of the first two (2) entries. This is to help deter anonymous/alias entries.
• Each participant shall register in person along with his photographic gear. This is to ensure that participants are the ones taking part in the contest and avoid the use of dummies.
• Ownership and copyright remains to be that of the photographer.
• A team shall be assigned to collect entries from the participants in each day of the two-day shooting at dinner time.
• After the event, a screening team shall go over the images collected and initiate elimination procedures and pick 35 images per category which will be subjected for final judging.
• Entries must be candid photos and not posed. Photos must be preferably in their original form.
• There will be free board for January 24-25 and free lodging on January 23-24 only.
• Deadline for submission of names of those who will participate will be on or before 11:59 PM of January 14, 2019. STRICTLY NO EXTENSION AND NO WALK INS. This will allow the organizers to plan in advance the billeting, budgeting, and spare the organizers from cramming.
• The registration fee of P500.00 shall be paid in advance on or before January 14, 2019, to allow the organizers to order the Tshirts in advance and to avoid beating the deadline. You may send your payment thru: Cebuana Lhuiller, Palawan, Western Union, MLhuiller to the account of Elizabeth Ramos.
• Prizes will be given out each for the four (4) categories:
First prize 10,000.00 plus trophy plus certificate
Second prize 7,000.00 plus trophy plus certificate
Third prize 4,000.00 plus trophy plus certificate
Two (2) Finalists for each category @ P2,000 each plus certificate.
• The decision of the Board of Judges of the Maitum Safari Photo Contest is FINAL.
• In capturing photos during performances, all participants should only use the designated area.

- Aesthetics (Creatvity) – Does the photographer show some creative thought or original idea in the making of this image? 30 percent
- Composition/Arrangement – Did the photographer use an interesting point of view or perspective? 40 percent
- Technical elements – Is the object of the photo in focus? If not in sharp focus, does it appear to be an intentional effect to enhance the image in some “artistic” way? Did the photographer use proper lighting of the subject” Do any extremes of darkness or brightness lend to or detract from the image content? 30 percent
